Throughout the Academic year we in the Civil & Structural Engineering Society try to bring students across different years in Civil and Structural Engineering courses in MTU together to get to know one another. During the year we organise social evenings including pub quizzes, games nights, bowling and escape rooms, as well as graduate talks and a yearly society trips during the Christmas Holidays. During the pandemic we have proudly kept these events going through zoom quizzes, social media giveaways and a graduate talk.
Founded in 2016.
We have previously organized society trips during to Dublin in 2017, London in 2018 to visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which was still under construction, Barcelona in 2019 to see the Sagrada Familia and Toulouse, France in 2020 during which we visited the Millau Viaduct, the worlds tallest bridge. We also went to Belfast to visit Queens university in 2022, Lisbon in 2023 to see the 25 de Abril bridge which spans over 2,200 meters, and Amsterdam in 2024 to admire the flood gates in the port of Rotterdam and the canals systems in place.
