Green Campus Society
We are group that aims and works on making the college and the world a greener and more environmental friendly place to live in while also educating people on how to be more sustainable. This society is for students in both Kerry campuses in MTU.

The Green Campus Society is a society that promotes and work towards sustainability and a greener and healthy environment for all to live in.
Interested in helping the world be more environmentally friendly? Then please consider joining. We would be delighted to have you on board. Only MTU students can join this society. We have lots of things planned and can't wait to get started and make a difference. Every little step counts.
Aims:
- Make the college and the world a greener place to be in
- Organise talks, starting initiatives and other activities to help promote sustainability and an eco-friendly campus.
- Create more green spaces for relaxation, studying and causal socialising
- Educate people how to reduce waste and how to recycle effectively, with talks, posters, online posts, videos, workshops, demonstrations and so on
- Collaborate with other relevant societies such as the wellbeing society to achieve remarkable things
- Promote people to get involved with sustainability with talks, activities, and initiatives, such as donating preloved clothes to charity shops and other relevant organisations
- Allow staff and students to be connected to nature and know the benefits of it with the help of talks from professionals and lecturers, trusted videos and so on
- Be an outlet for people to detox, unwind and relax when it is needed with the help of casual meetings, talks, activities, and short trips
- Educate people about wellbeing by giving, tips, advice and giving them details to professional supports when it is needed

History
- Started in Early 2024
- We were involved in the Ditch the Disposables campaign in early 2024 to reduce the use of single use cups and to use a reusable one instead
- Held planting events in both Kerry campuses with talks about wickering willows and planted plants to create relaxing green spaces
- Participated in a preloved clothes collection to help raise funds for Down Syndrome Kerry
- Submitted an application to BICS 2024 for the Best Poster catagory
Achievements
In mid 2024, John (Chairperson) received a citation and society person of the year for the Green Campus Society and receive another award as a citation for running the Green Campus Society.
We aim to win more achievements.
