Nursing and Agricultural Society

Nursing and Agricultural Society

We're a society made up of Nursing and Agriculture students, aiming to have a bit of craic and raise necessary funds for vital charities. Our society involves Nursing, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Engineering, Veterinary Nursing, Veterinary Bioscience and Wildlife Biology students. We organise various social events through the academic year, and our big finale is a ball.

This year we have chosen three local charities as our beneficiaries.

Those three charities are:

Recovery Haven Kerry
Kerry Mental Health Association
Kerry Hospice Foundation

We have chosen these three charities because they provide vital and important care for people around the county of Kerry. They are local to us and we feel it is important to give back to the community, while having a bit of craic of course. This year we especially want to provide awareness and promotion of mental health, as we feel this is not discussed enough in our community, and it is something that affects us all at one point or another. We hope you will support our society and help us raise funds for these important causes.

History

The Nursing and Agricultural Society (or NAG Society for short) was formed to combine two big student groups in IT Tralee, and later MTU Kerry, those being the Nursing and the Agricultural student courses. The aims of our Society have always been simple: have craic and raise some money for charity.

Our Society has a proven track record of hosting some of the biggest Societies events on and off campus and we don't have any ideas of slowing down. Over the last number of years we have developed a great working relationship with our local community and have raised large amounts of money for charity. In 2025, we raised over €15,000 for three charities: Recovery Haven (€5000), Enable Ireland (€5000) and Pieta House (€5000). So far this year, we have raised over €25,000 for our chosen charities: Recovery Haven Kerry. Kerry Mental Health Association and  Kerry Hospice Foundation and we hope to keep raising funds until the end of the academic year.
